If you have children or have been around children for any length of time, then you likely know what a tantrum is. Screaming, crying, wailing. Arms flying, legs kicking, body fully thrown on the ground. It’s an incredible display of emotion that is nearly impossible to reason with while it’s happening. As most parents know, tantrums are going to happen, and sometimes, you have to let them play out before you can get to the bottom of it. Why? Because, as young children, they don’t have the capacity to express what they’re feeling. They don’t yet have the knowledge or the words to name their emotions. But as adults, we grow into a new way of processing.
I mean, wouldn’t it be crazy if we, as adults, threw our bodies on the ground and had a full-out tantrum every time we were overcome with emotion? As Scripture says, we change as we grow. What was normal as children isn’t as we get older. And that’s for a good reason! In the same way, our faith develops over time as we mature, and so do our emotions and our ability to express them, manage them, and process them.
Today, spend time thanking God for the way He made you and continues to grow and mature you in your faith. With that, ask that He help you continue to grow and mature in all areas of your life, including emotional health!

About this Plan
Few things in life are more important than breathing. It’s what keeps us going and living. This isn’t a devotional on the science of breathing. Instead, we’re talking about what it looks like to create breathing room in parts of our everyday lives. From faith to finances to friendship to so much more, we’re diving into the benefits of slowing down, pausing, and giving these areas of our lives room to breathe.
