Breathe

DAY 13 OF 20

Think about the last time you were down and out. I mean, really, really down and out! Maybe you’d lost your job, or had gone through a terrible breakup, or were grieving the loss of a loved one, or just struggling through a dark season. Though so many things probably carried you through that time, one of them was probably the way others encouraged and built you up. The way they told you that you could keep going, the way they spoke life over what felt like death, the way they cheered you on as you took brave steps into the next season. Their words of encouragement helped build you up when you needed it most. What’s great about that is it’s a gift you can pass on.

Because you know the power of encouragement in your own life, you can share it with others when you know they need it. You can be the voice that cheers them on and builds them up when they’re struggling through moments of darkness. And in doing it, you’re not just encouraging them; you’re following God’s call on your life to love others.

Who in your life needs encouragement and love right now? Go out of your way to build them up this week!

About this Plan

Breathe

Few things in life are more important than breathing. It’s what keeps us going and living. This isn’t a devotional on the science of breathing. Instead, we’re talking about what it looks like to create breathing room in parts of our everyday lives. From faith to finances to friendship to so much more, we’re diving into the benefits of slowing down, pausing, and giving these areas of our lives room to breathe.
