A Heart for Missions

The Great Commission, found in Matthew 28:19, isn’t exclusively commanded to adults. It is for your children too. We want to help them cultivate a heart for missions. This is a passionate commitment to sharing the love of God with people of every nation, tribe, and tongue. Our world is longing for hope and redemption; a heart for missions is an expression of our faith and love for God and others.

In Psalm 96:3, the psalmist urges us to declare God's glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples. This encapsulates the heart of missions, proclaiming the good news of salvation and the wonders of God's love to people from every corner of the earth. As we teach our children to be ambassadors for Christ, we will shine His light in the darkest places, bringing hope to the hopeless.

Romans 10:14-15 emphasizes the importance of sending messengers to proclaim the gospel, stating, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" This passage reminds us that missions are not just about going to far-off lands but also about supporting and sending those called to go. As we pray for and support mission endeavors, we play a vital role in advancing God's kingdom and reaching the lost with the message of salvation.

In Acts 8:26-40, we witness Philip's encounter with the Ethiopian eunuch. It is a powerful example of the Holy Spirit's leading in missions. Through Philip's obedience and willingness to share the gospel, the eunuch comes to faith in Christ and is baptized. This story inspires our children and us, encouraging us to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit's leadership and boldly share the love of Jesus with others, regardless of cultural or geographical barriers.

Pray:

Father, in Jesus’ name, we come before you with hearts full of gratitude for participating in your mission to reach the world with the gospel. We pray for our children that you would instill a heart for missions and a passionate commitment to sharing your love with people of every nation, tribe, and tongue.

Grant them the courage to declare your glory among the nations and marvelous deeds among all peoples. May they be ambassadors of Christ, shining your light in the darkest places and bringing hope to the hopeless.

Help us support and send messengers to proclaim the gospel, knowing how beautiful the feet of those who bring good news are! May our prayers and support play a vital role in advancing your kingdom and reaching the lost with the message of salvation.

May they be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and bold in sharing their love with others, regardless of cultural or geographical barriers. May their lives testify to your grace and mercy, drawing others into a relationship with you and advancing your kingdom to the ends of the earth.
