31 Values to Pray for Your Kids

DAY 26 OF 31

Willingness and Ability to Work

Diligence, a willingness and ability to work with excellence and integrity, will help them lead with integrity. In a world often marked by shortcuts and laziness, the call to diligence is a testament to the value of hard work and perseverance.

In Colossians 3:23, we are reminded to work with all our heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. This verse challenges us to view our work as a means of earning a living and an opportunity to honor God with our efforts. As we instill this perspective in our children, we empower them to approach their tasks with diligence and dedication, knowing that their labor is ultimately unto the Lord.

Proverbs 14:23 declares that all hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty. This proverb highlights the connection between diligence and success, reminding us that consistent effort yields fruitful results. As we teach our children the value of hard work and perseverance, we equip them to pursue their goals with determination and resilience, knowing their efforts will not be in vain.

In the story of Ruth 2, we see Ruth's willingness to work diligently in the fields of Boaz, her kinsman-redeemer. Despite her humble circumstances, Ruth demonstrates a strong work ethic and a spirit of humility, ultimately leading to favor and provision from God. Her example encourages us to embrace every opportunity to work with diligence.

Pray:

Father, in Jesus’ name, we come before you with hearts full of gratitude for the gift of work and the opportunity to honor you through our labor. We pray that you would fill our children with a spirit of diligence, a willingness, and an ability to work with excellence and integrity in all they do.

Grant them the wisdom to approach their tasks with all their heart, knowing that they are working for you, not for human masters. May they find joy and fulfillment in their work, knowing that their labor is ultimately unto you.

Help them understand that hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty. May they be diligent in their pursuits, knowing their efforts will yield fruitful results.

May they be like Ruth, willing to work diligently in every circumstance and trusting in your provision and favor. May their lives be a testament to the value of hard work and perseverance, bringing glory and honor to your name. We pray in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus, amen.
