31 Values to Pray for Your Kids

DAY 30 OF 31

Gratitude

Do you want your children to be known for their appreciation and gratitude? It is an attitude that causes others to stand up and notice. It displays a heart overflowing with thankfulness for the blessings they receive. It is the opposite of entitlement and discontentment; gratitude stands as a transformative invitation to recognize and appreciate the goodness of God in every circumstance.

In Ephesians 5:20, Paul encourages believers to thank God in all circumstances, recognizing that gratitude depends not on our circumstances but on our perspective. This challenges us to shift our focus from what we lack to what we have been given. As we model a lifestyle of thankfulness, we will experience the joy and peace of recognizing God's goodness in every situation.

Colossians 2:7 speaks of being rooted and built up in Christ, overflowing with thankfulness. This imagery reminds us that gratitude is not a superficial expression of politeness but a deep-rooted response to the grace and mercy of God in our lives.

In Luke 17:11-19, we encounter the story of the ten lepers whom Jesus healed, yet only one returned to give thanks. This account serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of expressing gratitude for the blessings we receive. Like the Samaritan leper who returned to Jesus with a grateful heart, may our children learn to recognize and acknowledge the abundant blessings God pours out upon them each day.

Pray:

Father, in Jesus’ name, we come before you with hearts full of gratitude for the countless blessings you shower upon us each day. We pray for our children that you would instill a spirit of gratitude, a heart that overflows with thankfulness for your goodness and grace in their lives.

Grant them the wisdom to give thanks to you in all circumstances, recognizing that every good and perfect gift comes from you. May they cultivate a mindset of gratitude that transforms their outlook on life and fills their hearts with joy and peace.

Help them be rooted and built up in Christ, overflowing with thankfulness for the abundant blessings they receive daily. May they follow the example of the Samaritan leper returning to you with hearts full of gratitude for your healing touch and unfailing love. We pray in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus, amen.
