Becoming a Son That Pleases the FatherSýnishorn
LOVE THE WILL OF GOD MORE THAN YOUR SPOUSE
When my wife and I started out in ministry, we had a missionary outreach and there was a particular village whose only place of worship was a mosque. We subsequently built the first church there, but my wife (fiancée then) first went there for evangelism. She lived in the hut of one of her female converts. The woman had a male relative who was staying with her. This relative was advanced in age but was not married. After evangelism during the day, my wife would come back to sleep in a room provided by her supposed convert.
Unknown to her, the woman usually gave the spare key to her room to that male relative, with instructions for him to go in to violate her. We became aware of this after the man got born again and opened up during his water baptism and his name was changed to ‘Abraham’. The man confessed that a deadly fear always came upon him every time the woman gave him the key, such that he would be unable to make a move.
My wife was the only female in the leadership team of our ministry then, and I was put in a precarious position because we needed to send her back to that village. Everyone proposed that she should not return to the place. Then, the Lord asked me what my decision was since I was the leader of the team and the lady in question was my fiancée. Should I let her go back to the village and risk a situation where a newly converted Bro Abraham backslides and tries to go back to his old ways? Ultimately, I told her that she had to go back because if Jesus cannot keep her safe in the village, then He won’t be able to keep her safe in my house also.
PRAYER: Lord, I receive grace to prioritise the will of the Father above my life. I will not choose my life over God’s will in Jesus’ name. Amen!
