When you think of the idea of darkness, what do you see? For many of us, the answer would be nothing at all. We need light to be able to see the world around us. Darkness is truly the absence of any sort of light. For years, artists have tried to replicate that sort of darkness in their art, but could never get quite close enough. Even the darkest pigment would reflect some sort of light. But in 2014, scientists developed a black pigment so dark it absorbs 99.96% of light, making it the darkest pigment in the world. This dark pigment, called Vantablack, is truly the definition of complete darkness. A life without Jesus would be a life filled with total darkness—a darkness that keeps us from the life that God has called us to live. This darkness is all-consuming, and on our own, we’d have no way out. But Jesus came to illuminate the dark. And when we have the light of Christ in us, we’re able to reflect Him out into the world, to help show others that there’s a way out of the darkness. What are some things you can do this week to become a light to others? What are some ways you can reflect Jesus in the things that you say and do?

About this Plan
A small shift can be enough to change your perspective. When we shift our perspective, we allow ourselves to see something in a whole new light. Many of us have a picture of what we want and expect Jesus Christ to be, but if we allow ourselves to shift our perspective, we can see a God who is so much more than we think.
