Harvest Thanksgiving All Year Round!

DAY 2 OF 7

DOES YOUR INNER BEING FOR JOY?

"The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. Psalm 28:7

Just as the farmer trusts for rain and the right amount of sun to make his crops grow, we, as Christ believers and followers, should put our entire trust in Him! Today’s scripture tells us where our strength comes from. It comes from the Lord, and His joy gives us the strength to meet the challenges that come each day.

In yesterday’s study, we learned of a woman whose joy radiated from within, and out of that joy, she and her children raised up a song! In our circumstances of despair, not knowing if there is enough paycheck to meet the bills, or when a loved one is given a bad diagnosis, do we have enough depth in the Lord to trust Him through our circumstances and raise up a song of praise?

Just as we eat several times a day to nourish our body, we need to daily feed our soul on God’s Word and in prayer to gain that deep trust.

Five years ago, my husband and I heard the grim diagnosis that there was nothing more that could be medically done to save his life. That was June 22, 2017. The tumor grew on his esophagus and heart. Dan lost his ability to eat, drink, and swallow. He met our Lord just shy of 2 months later. Dan could no longer nourish his body, but his soul had stored spiritual nourishment to carry him through those days.

His inner strength provided by the Holy Spirit enabled him to continue visiting shut-ins and singing gospel songs to brighten their day!

There comes a time in life when we either trust Him all the way or realize our faith wasn’t what we thought it was. We either “put up or shut up.” Yes, this is a rude adage, but it certainly drives the point home. We have too many Christians warming church pews that have no inner strength the other 6 days! They talk the talk but don’t walk the walk. Only when we learn to trust God in “all” things will thanksgiving and joy radiate from within!

TODAY’S EXERCISE:

· Stir up thanksgiving each hour.

· Purpose to raise up a song from within.

· If you fed your body food today, you need to feed your soul.

· It’s time to put up or shut up.
