Harvest Thanksgiving All Year Round!

DAY 1 OF 7

ROOTS TO START A HARVEST!

In 2020, my daughter and her husband visited Grumeti, Africa, where they had the privilege of seeing a family in the village. This family made their home from mud and twigs into a grassy hut. The mother of this family had made a swing for her children from sticks. She prepared her family's meal kneeling on the earth's floor. She also gathered her children, who sang and held hands, involving their guests they had never met before as if they were family. The entire family radiated joy and an attitude of thanksgiving as if they owned the world!

I share this encounter with you because it is a great way to begin realizing that thanksgiving and joy are not dependent on circumstances but on what is in our hearts and how we perceive things. This family only knew their lifestyle and was content and happy with what they had.

Many of us worldwide enjoy modern conveniences and the latest in technology. We have 3 square meals available daily with snacks in between, yet few have learned to be content.

From out of the depth of our being, we either become grumblers and complainers and see the glass half empty, or we become like this little family in Africa that sees what they have with deep gratitude!

"Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving." Colossians 2:6-7

When we are deeply rooted in Christ and utilize the faith that comes with this grounding, scripture tells us that we abound in thanksgiving! To abound is to do so in excess, in abundance.

TODAY'S EXERCISE:

· Ask yourself when was the last time you felt appreciative.

· Ask yourself how often you exude joy and thanksgiving to others.

· Begin to thank the Lord for all the many blessings you enjoy!

· May we abound in thanksgiving!

About this Plan

Harvest Thanksgiving All Year Round!

I am amazed at the lessons we can learn from other cultures! Some seem to have less materially, yet they exude a deep sense of thanksgiving and joy! I don’t know about you, but I want thanksgiving and joy to be such a part of me that it is as easy as breathing! In this plan, we will discover how to make the season of thanksgiving a daily practice!
