Experiencing God in the Secret PlaceSýnishorn
It’s in your calendar, right?
As I’m writing this, I’m waiting for a dear friend. How far in advance did we make this appointment to see each other finally? Do you realize how everything in life needs to be planned ahead of time to find its place in our calendars?
I need an appointment even for my good friend because otherwise, it won’t work. Isn’t that crazy? Not to mention other appointments, like going to the dentist, which we might happily choose to postpone on short notice.
Once the kids start soccer practice or music lessons, it becomes clear that you need to plan everything else around those activities. Oh, and your job is another “appointment” that you know you have to go to, whether you feel like it or not. You simply go.
You don’t get up in the morning and say, “Oh no, I don’t feel like working…I’ll just sleep in today.” You go because you know you will be rewarded; you will be paid.
So why is it so hard for us to make an appointment with God every day? Sorry, not “with” God…but “for” God. The incredible thing is that God always has time for us—but we often don’t take time for Him. Is it because we don’t make it a priority in our calendars?
How effective do you think it would be if you planned your life—for example, your job, soccer practice, an appointment with the hairdresser—around your prayer life, instead of the other way around? How richly do you think you’d be rewarded for that? In fact, God promises:
“‘But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.’” (Matthew 6:6, NKJV)
Do you know what “He will reward you” means? God wants to hear your prayers! Whatever your prayer request is, if you take the time to talk to Him about it, He wants to give you the answers to help you solve it!
Because He loves you, he loves you infinitely!
When your daily schedule begins with prayer, your life will change—for sure!
You’re a miracle!
