Experiencing God in the Secret Place

DAY 4 OF 7

He wants to be with you.

There were so many complicated instructions for people who had sinned against God in the Old Testament. I’m so grateful that thanks to Jesus’ death on the cross, we are free from all those complicated rituals and that the way to God is made so easy for us!

Too easy?

Let me share the regulations for the burnt offering with you to give you an example: “‘And the fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it; it shall not be put out…’” (Leviticus 6:12, NKJV). I believe that many of us would fail at this one task simply because we’d probably fall asleep, haha.

And the laws go much further, but I want to stop here on this point because this Old Testament commandment still relates to us and is relevant for today.

If we dive into the New Testament, the “regulations” for the burnt offering are a little different: “So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering.” (Romans 12:1, MSG)

So today, your life is the sacrifice God enjoys! The “living” sacrifice. And now, as we look back at the Old Testament and read, “the fire shall not be put out,” what exactly does that mean?

It means that God desires a relationship with you in which you fervently do your part so that the fire will never burn out. He wants to be connected to you at all times!

Just as you make sure your smartphone is charged and always remember to bring a charger with you when you travel—BECAUSE IT’S IMPORTANT TO YOU—God longs for you to make time for Him every day—BECAUSE IT’S IMPORTANT TO YOU.

That’s all. Pretty easy, huh? Maybe it’s so easy that we keep thinking, “I can do that later…?” But Jesus paid a great price to be with you in such an easy way!

He wants to be easily found because He so wants to be with you!

If that’s not love, I’m not sure what is! :-)

You’re a miracle!
