Nobody Kneels in Prayer Anymore | the Posture of Prayer

ỤBỌCHỊ 2 NKE 5

When Jesus teaches His disciples to pray, He uses the affectionate word “Abba” in speaking to His Father. Jesus tells us we can address Him as “Daddy God”. Jesus says we can approach God as our Heavenly Father. We can sometimes take our own earthly experience of fathers and the ways that they don’t seem to measure up and project those on our relationship with God. We need to know that God will not fail us. He does not disappoint. He loves us!

Just after the Last Supper, we see Jesus on His knees; He’s wrestling with the decision He’s made to go to the cross. We can wrestle with what commitments we’ve made with God in our emotions, but Jesus wrestles, honestly in prayer before the Father.

Jesus knelt. So many people who approached Jesus knelt. Jesus prayed before baptism, before choosing His disciples, before the transfiguration, and before every major happening. We can approach God in everything, knowing that He loves us and He hears us.

QUESTIONS

What is your perception of God as your Heavenly Father? Do you know that you can approach Him in prayer because He loves you perfectly?

What are you wrestling with in your emotions that you can take to the Father in prayer?
