1491 BC God sends Moses, feeling very inadequate now at the age of 80, back into Egypt to address Pharaoh and use miraculous powers to get the Hebrews released.

Note 1 (Exodus 4:24–25): Moses had evidently been disobeying God in not circumcising his son. His wife Zipporah carried out the operation to save Moses’ life.

Note 2 (Exodus 5:11): The command to gather straw caused a dispersion of the Hebrews amongst the rich farmers of Egypt and made the plight of the Hebrews widely known.
