El Olam: The Everlasting God

Psalm 90:1-2 "Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God."

The Hebrew word, Olam, comes from a root word meaning “eternity.” Thus El Olam means the God who is Eternal or the Everlasting God, the God who has no beginning and no end. There has never been a time when God did not exist.

Our human minds cannot fathom the concept of eternity, but we can accept it by faith. And we can experience eternity if we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior.

John 3:16 God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life”

The term Olam also carries with it the idea of unchanging. Everything we know on this earth changes in some way over time. But God never changes. His character, His Word, His love, His promises, His purposes never change and never fail.

Ps 100:5 For the Lord is good and His love endures forever.

For us, this means that El Olam, the Everlasting God, is constant, dependable and reliable. Time does not alter God.

Isaiah 46:4 Even to your old age, I am He, and even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear...

This verse tells us that El Olam is totally faithful! We are time bound and have an expiry date, but He doesn’t. He promises to take care of us. We can put our complete confidence in Him.

♥ Response: Lord, from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. I can completely depend on You. You don’t change and You will never cease to be. I thank and praise You for You are my solid Rock, the Rock of all ages.

Declarations:

Lord, Your mercy is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear You and Your righteousness to children’s children. Ps 103:17

You kingdom is an everlasting kingdom and Your dominion endures throughout all generations. Ps 145:13

You are good, O Lord, and Your love endures forever and Your faithfulness continues through all generations. Ps 100:5

Your plans stand firm forever, the purposes of Your heart through all generations. Ps 33:11

I thank You that You have given us eternal life and this life is in Your Son. He who has the Son has life. I have the Son and therefore I have eternal life. 1John 5:11-12

You are El Olam, the Everlasting God and You don’t faint nor grow weary. Your understanding is unsearchable. You give power to the weak and to those who have no might, You increase strength. Isaiah 40:28-29

Lord, a thousand years are as a passing day for You, as brief as a few night hours. Ps 90:4

You are the Lord, and You do not change. Therefore we are not consumed. Mal 3:6

Lord, even the heavens will perish, but You will endure. They will grow old like a garment, and You will change them, but You are the same and Your years have no end. Ps 102:26-27

Even though I suffer, I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day. 2 Tim 1:12
