DAY 3 OF 3

TAKE REFUGE

We hope you’ve enjoyed this devo! For our last day, let’s look at the second part of Psalm 34:8, ”...Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!” The author, David, uses the word ‘refuge’ here to mean a place of safety or protection. For example, animals may find refuge in a tree or cave during a storm. Frequently in Biblical times, this meant going to a stronghold or safe place to escape enemies. For you, this may be your bedroom in your home, your favorite coffee shop, or it could even be a person.

Many times we often run to the wrong places when things are going bad. We scroll on social media, we compare ourselves to others, we gossip or complain, or turn inwards and shut everyone and everything out. Rarely does that ever make us feel better, and if anything, we feel worse than before.

When we run to Jesus or ‘take refuge’ in Him we are assured blessings. To be blessed means we are happy and fulfilled by God. As we experience His goodness, it leads to a life of gratitude and worship, recognizing that we find true joy and are blessed when we trust in Him. Take refuge in God today!

Application: Where do you turn to when things are going wrong? How can you instead find ‘refuge’ in God?
