Sweet Surrender to Our Lord

Awake, O north wind! Awake, O south wind! Breathe on my garden with your Spirit-Wind. Stir up the sweet spice of your life within me. Spare nothing as you make me your fruitful garden. Hold nothing back until I release your fragrance. Come walk with me as you walked with Adam in your paradise garden. Come taste the fruits of your life in me.

In Song of Songs, we see a beautiful divine duet between the Shulamite, who represents us, and our Shepherd-King, Jesus. The King invites the Shulamite to walk with Him, and she agrees to do so. Likewise, as we call upon Him in faith and sweetly surrender to Him day by day, we become fully His! Our mind is made up—and we commit fully to our relationship with Him, knowing that we will bear fruit that glorifies Him. What a great privilege and blessing it is to walk closely with our Shepherd-King.

Song of Songs reminds us that whatever comes our way, whatever we may face, God can bring about good for us as we allow Him to work within us and direct us. Like the Shulamite in Song of Songs, we can be confident that in all things, our beloved Lord breathes His life into us and enriches us. He prunes all that no longer serves us so that we grow beautifully and bear more fruit.

As we surrender ourselves to God’s love, we become willing to be and do everything He has called us to do and be. This is His desire for us. Our cry in response ought to be: “Lord, shape me as You see fit. I am surrendered to You and Your ways. I hold nothing back until I release Your fragrance. Come walk with me as You walked with Adam in paradise. Come taste the fruits of Your life in me.” Let us sweetly surrender to the Gardener who prunes us and shapes us into who we are called to be—His Radiant One who brings Him such great joy!

Here are three Bible-based affirmations to strengthen your faith today:

I AM surrendered to my King. I AM willing to go and do what my King tells me. I AM exalted by Christ and made radiant by His presence in my life.

Remember, we capitalize the I AM to demonstrate our awareness that Christ in us gives us everything we need. We are nothing without Him.
