The Love of Our Shepherd-King

Song of Songs reveals the transforming power of God’s love to change our lives. The Lord is the Shepherd-King, who leads us and cares for us. We are the Shulamite, the “Shalom One,” His beloved, His dove. We are in the center of His heart—and He is in the center of ours. He is so wonderful, so loving, and so good that we could belong to no other. We are not our own. We belong to Jesus, the Great Shepherd and the King of kings.

Jesus is the Rock that Song of Songs 2:14 is referring to—and we are the dove, tucked safely within the rock, protected from the storms of life! As we remember the empty tomb, this beautiful verse in Song of Songs becomes even deeper and more meaningful. We are His beloved because of what He did for us. Jesus gave His life, demonstrating His love for us.

He is eternal life! He is victorious, and we will be victorious too! His death on the cross was the only way for us to receive that eternal life and victory. Jesus knew this, so He gave His life for us, and then resurrected—breaking the bonds of death! Now, our good Shepherd-King gently leads us, guides us, shelters us, and strengthens us. His great love is at the root of our healing, our growth, our freedom!

What a wonderful gift it is to have His love—which is the foundation of all we have in Him. Let yourself be loved with His great love, overshadowed by it, and filled with it, so you may grow too!

I AM beloved with the everlasting love of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I AM His precious rose, kept safe in his care. I AM loved by my Shepherd-King!

Remember, we capitalize the I AM to demonstrate our awareness that Christ in us gives us everything we need. We are nothing without Him.
