Women of the Bible

DAY 1 OF 30

Eve

In a culture that has difficulty defining what a woman is, God makes it clear. God stated it was not good for man to be alone. So, he created a woman - a helper. She was formed from the rib of Adam while he slept and he awoke to all her splendor. She was called Eve, and through her, God gave Adam the gift of companionship and intimacy. This was the world's first marriage. But, Eve was deceived by Satan, and the perfection of Eden came to a halt.

God dealt a curse in his perfect balance of judgment and grace. Because of sin, marriage would now be struck with a competitor mentality instead of perfect complementarianism. We should not be shocked or appalled by such contention in our social construct over gender today. This tension has been present ever since sin entered the scene.

Eve was graced to give birth to children. Ultimately, it would be her "seed" that would put an end to sin, death, and the enemy who deceived her. What beauty we see in God's Word and character as we are shown the first glimpse of Jesus Christ our Savior even after rebellion and disobedience.

1. How can you see God's love and patience during his righteous judgment and discipline in your life?

Prayer: God, allow me to show love and truth in a confused culture. Allow me to demonstrate your transforming power to impact families.
