ManifestHER Daily: Becoming Fully Committedનમૂનો
In business school, our internships were very competitive. I had two friends who attained an international internship in Spain, and both were excited because they both spoke Spanish. One friend learned Spanish through school, and my second friend grew up in South Florida and learned from her friends who grew up speaking Spanish as part of their culture. Who do you think did better speaking Spanish during her internship? If you guessed my second friend, that’s not it! It actually was the first friend mentioned. See, my first friend learned the language without a dialect, so it was much easier for her to be understood and understand others.
My second friend had adopted the local dialect when she learned to speak Spanish. She had picked up the language from people who had always done what they always did. The only problem was that what had always been done didn’t work in this new situation.
What is a dialect? It's the form of the language specific to a local group or region.
How many of us, as we are learning the language of commitment, are speaking a dialect that we picked up from others who were just simply doing what they have always done? How many of us, as we are learning the language of commitment, ease, and stillness are still speaking a dialect that:
· Says, “I have to work so hard that I sacrifice everything to achieve my goals.”
· Doesn’t include faith because we feel like the results are all on us.
· Fails to allow room for God to move.
We think we’re speaking the right language, but if you’re going to another level, you have to learn a new dialect.
This entire concept is counter “hustle culture”! The culture wants to say, “Look at me, I DID this. Look at what I have achieved!” But God is saying if you want to go to this next level, you’re going to have to center your life and all you desire in Him.
Our new dialect of ease, alignment, dwelling and stillness may be an unpopular opinion when it compared to the culture, but when it comes to the results God wants for us, we can say with confidence, “I am speaking God’s dialect and He is in the center.”
