Prophecy: Jesus & His Birth - Preparing For Christmas Series #2નમૂનો
Messiah would bring light to the Gentiles
Thoughts on the Passage
Zebulun and Naphtali were the two tribes in the northern portion of the land of Israel around the Sea of Galilee. Throughout history, this portion of Israel was always under attack – the enemy always hit them first and hardest whenever they attacked Israel from the north, and all the major attacks came from the north (Syria, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greek, Roman…). They received little help from the rest of Israel and suffered greatly.
God remembered their suffering.
God gave them a special promise – they would be the people where God’s light shone first and brightest. Jesu would come to this portion of the land of Israel and release His light. Jesus did the majority of His ministry in this region. He did His ministry first in this region. Out of this region the gospel, the “good news”, was released to the world.
Also, it was known as Galilee of the Gentiles. At the time of Jesus, there were many people who were Gentiles living in this region. It was not only a light to the Jewish people but it was a light to the Gentiles as well starting in this part of the world.
Time to Pray
Father, You take time to give special help to people who face the harshest attacks. You did it for the people of the land of Zebulun and Naphtali and You do it for people today. I pray for people today who face great hardship from war, oppression, and subjugation. May Your light shine brightly for the peoples and regions being treated harshly. Give me a heart to pray for these people, to release blessing upon them and to release the light of Your “Good News” to them. In Jesus’ Name Amen.
