A Prayer for Boldness to Speak Truth About Injustice
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank you that you have not given me a spirit of fear. I received the Spirit of sonship when you adopted me as your child. Now I can call you Father. (Rom. 8:15) Because I hope in you, I can be strong and courageous. (Ps. 31:24) Please give me boldness to talk about things that matter and to share the plight of the oppressed in order to bring about change. I desire to administer true justice, to show mercy and compassion to others. (Zech. 7:9) I want to defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and oppressed. (Ps. 82:3) When it is time to speak, let me speak. (Eccles. 3:7)
Many times throughout the Bible you placed your words in the mouths of your servants. (Deut. 18:18; Exod. 4:15) Oh Lord, please use me to raise awareness about the injustices of our world, specifically human trafficking, so that justice will be administered, and mercy and compassion will be displayed through me, your servant, and through the church, your body. I thank you in advance for the opportunities you will bring for me to speak truth and take action. In Jesus’ name, amen.
