AN UNBREAKABLE SPIRIT

Again Paul was ministering in a city where they cast a demon out of a poor girl who was being manipulated by her slave masters. Immediately the masters took Paul and SIlas and had them beaten, whipped, and imprisoned by the authorities. They responded to this by praying and singing worship songs to God. That night, God sent an earthquake to break their bonds. Instead of escaping, they used that opportunity to share the gospel to the jailer and his whole family.

Sometimes the biggest impact we can make in sharing our faith with others is when they see how we respond to times of difficulty and persecution. When the world sees the people of God go through a difficult time with grace, gentleness, and love, it sees the power of God moving.

Are you in a difficult situation now? Do not let it get you down. Remember that God will be with you in whatever situation. Remember that Jesus has defeated every enemy so this trial will only purify you, not destroy you. Remember, too, that there is a reward for us in heaven. So let us ask God for the grace to go through hard times well.

REFLECT

1. Are you anxious, worried, or fearful about anything right now? How can you apply what Philippians 4 says?
2. How do you usually respond to difficult situations? Will the people who observe you during these times know that you have a God who gives me grace?

RESPOND

1. Are you going through a difficult season now? Choose to praise and worship God knowing that He is in control and your breakthrough is about to come.
2. Encourage someone you know this week who is going through a difficult season.
