The Fire WithinMuestra
SUCCESS IS A SUCCESSION
READ
The transformation in Saul’s life was unbelievable! In the beginning of the chapter, he was trying to imprison and kill Christians. Twenty verses later, he was preaching that Jesus is the Son of God. That is the power of an encounter with Jesus!
That, too, is the power of discipleship. Ananias was used by God to establish Saul in the church and Saul became more powerful. We do not see much of Ananias in the Bible again, but the impact of his life benefited all Christians everywhere.
This is our goal when we disciple someone. We are helping them walk in their God given purpose. We are not trying to keep them “under us.” We are not collecting them to make ourselves feel good that we have a large discipleship group. And we do not want to stop them from growing in God. If they excel and become better than us in many ways then that is our joy. We celebrate what God is doing and we thank Him for allowing us to be involved in the process. This is the legacy of Ananias.
REFLECT
1. Are you helping the people you are discipling reach their God-given purpose?
2. Do you ever become insecure or jealous when the people you disciple start to do better than you?
RESPOND
1. Thank God for the people you are reaching out to or discipling. Pray for them and ask God to help you bring out the best in them.
2. Send a message to the person you are reaching out to or discipling. Encourage them by saying that you believe God has a great plan for them and that you are excited to be a part of it.
