Because Jesus Changes Everything - Everywhere we show up with the love of Jesus

I’m sure all of us can relate to a time when we were in a serious situation, when the apparent solution was delayed. In the story of Lazarus, Jesus was intentionally late to heal his sick loved one. Why? It says in v5-6 , He loved Mary, Martha and Lazarus, who was sick unto death.

Wait... What?

The Lord was in no rush to heal his sick friend even though Jesus Himself would thus be overcome with grief. Because Jesus loved them, it was better to intentionally wait for Lazarus to be stinking dead. The key is v4, “It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it." Our Savior’s glory is for our good. The power of God was displayed in calling Lazarus’ physical body specifically by name to life. This was important; otherwise every corpse within earshot of the life-giver’s voice would have been raised.

Being a witness to God’s glory exceedingly strengthens the faith of the saints.

As Chad Bird says, "At Lazarus's grave, Jesus did not say, ''Death is natural, a normal part of the cycle of life. No, he wept. Then, he kicked death in the teeth."

As you think about this powerful revelation, what do we learn from Jesus about showing up? Especially in times when people experience great loss? What are some hard, dark places where you need to show up with Christ? How can you do that?
