Whose Am I?

DAY 2 OF 7

First Loved

God loves us.

While we were still sinners, He loved us. When we had done nothing for Him, He loved us. His love for us meant death for Him, which He gladly received. He took on our sin and shame and paid the price by dying on that cross in our place. He did it for us, not because we had done anything for Him. Only the heart that treasures this love is capable to give it out.

To receive the love of God is to accept our bankruptcy. We have nothing good to our name, only punishment-deserving sin. We deserve but one thing, eternal death, yet by the love of Christ we are spared. While the people who love you can’t do so completely unselfishly, continually, or perfectly, God does. As a Christian, nothing can ever separate you and me from God’s great love for us. Only when we understand, receive, and enjoy God’s love for us, will we be able to give out such sacrificial love to those in our lives.

Do you truly believe God loves you, unconditionally? How are you showing love for those in your life, especially those who may be difficult to love?

Lord help me receive and accept your wonderful love for me, I pray.

About this Plan

Whose Am I?

You and I do not get to choose our human families. Some of us are blessed with great families, while many of us are not. And yet, every one of us can be part of God’s divine family. We have a Heavenly Father, who loves us unconditionally and invites each of us into His family. Explore further through this seven-day plan from Find Rest My Soul by Preethi Alice Jacob.
