Finishing Well
2 Timothy 4:7-8
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
Do we long for Christ’s return, or have we become quite attached to this earth and the rewards, relationships and comforts of life?
The gravitational pull of earth and living for here and now resists the race of faith and the eternal life of Christ’s kingdom. To live every day by faith in Jesus Christ and for his return requires a fight against the world, our sinful nature and the devil. This fight is the good fight and this race is the right race. Paul finished well and received his reward. We too will face a righteous Judge and the potential of rewards if we finish well. Let’s keep up the good fight!
Lord Jesus, I desire to finish well. To hear you say, ‘Well done!’ My life is a mist in the scope of eternity. Keep me faithful and fighting the right fight, for your glory.
