Strengthening the Core
Jude 20-21
“But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.”
Our resistance against temptation, deception and disappointment is to strengthen our core of faith, hope and love. We build ourselves up in our faith in Jesus for all things by praying in the Holy Spirit throughout the day. To pray in the Holy Spirit is to allow the Holy Spirit to pray through us that which is on the heart of God. Our prayers are not just responsive to the Holy Spirit’s leading; they are prayers that the Holy Spirit is using our body to pray. While God’s love for us is a constant reality, we must keep ourselves in God’s love by checking our hearts to see if any sin has clouded God’s face from us, or any attitude taken our eyes off of Jesus. Our hope of eternity with Jesus requires waiting, and it is this patient endurance which strengthens our hope. Our core resistance to sin and temptation, spiritual attack and deception of all kinds, is to strengthen our faith, hope and love.
Lord Jesus, you are the source of my faith, hope and love. It is your Spirit which renews this essential kingdom DNA within me. Fill me with your Spirit again today, for your glory.
