Trusting and Believing: Devotions From Time of Graceنموونە
How Does God Help Me to Believe?
He gives me the very faith I need
By now you know that God is a judge and that he will evaluate every human being who has ever lived. He holds the world accountable for all thoughts, words, and deeds.
But God is no ordinary judge. A judge at a track and field meet would be disqualified for cheating if he helped a long jumper avoid scratching or grabbed the pole-vaulter’s pole so it wouldn’t knock down the bar.
Here’s what I love about God--he not only came personally to our planet to rescue us; conquered sin, Satan, death, and hell for us; and gives eternal life to us by faith in the Savior. It’s even better than that--he even gives us the faith we need to believe the message and be saved. Whoa--seriously good news, folks.
We absolutely must have his help to jump-start our dead hearts. Scripture says, “No one can say, ‘Jesus is Lord’ except by the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 12:3).
