Trusting and Believing: Devotions From Time of Grace

DAY 27 OF 34

How Does God Help Me to Believe?
He gives me Christian fellowship

Ever watch mountain rock climbing? What a thrilling, demanding sport! What a terrifying and dangerous sport. Ever notice that solo climbing is not an option? The climbers are linked together by ropes so that if one member of the team loses his footing, the others will catch him.

Life is like rock climbing--thrilling, demanding, and dangerous. God invented congregations to function like the buddy system so that people can link ropes and look out for each other. Scripture says, “Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another” (Hebrews 10:24,25).

I need my Christian friends. I need someone to tell me if I’m getting weird in my beliefs. I need someone to tell me if I am rationalizing a sinful lifestyle. I need encouragement when I am down and a posterior kick when I am being stubborn. So do you. Do you have a congregation? Love it! Do you need a congregation? Find one!
