Trusting and Believing: Devotions From Time of Grace

DAY 31 OF 34

What Is It Like to Trust God?
I can relax

Around the time of the First World War, automobile trips were an ordeal. Roads were unpaved and had to be shared with livestock. The machines were fragile and often broke down. Tires blew out constantly. Service stations were few and far between.

Today I never think twice about jumping in my car and driving long distances. I enjoy many advantages that my grandfathers did not: smooth interstate highways, steel-belted radial tires, air bags, well-engineered vehicles, cell phones, and AAA.

My God is even better than AAA. “If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us” (1 John 4:15,16). He keeps me running, provides me with maps, jump-starts me when my battery is low, tows me when I break down, provides fuel along the way, and even lets me steer.

I can relax and enjoy the journey of my life, knowing that my God is committed to getting me to my destination.
