Trusting and Believing: Devotions From Time of Grace

DAY 24 OF 34

How Does God Help Me to Believe?
He tells me the significance of what he has done

"All the king’s horses and all the king’s men
couldn’t put Humpty together again."

King’s horses and king’s men can’t put the broken world back together again either. The best and brightest brains in human history have struggled with devising ways to get God (or the gods) to like us again, and what have they come up with? Witch doctors. Voodoo. Chanting, dancing, and meditation. Human sacrifice.

God’s wonderful Word tells us what we could never have figured out by ourselves. This is the core of his love letter to humanity: “God was reconciling the whole world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them” (2 Corinthians 5:19).

Jesus Christ accomplished something even tougher than reassembling a huge broken egg/man. By reliving everyone’s lives for them and dying their deaths for them, Jesus brought people back into God’s presence--his friendly presence. We are reconciled!
