Daily Encouragementنموونە

The writer knows where to go for a “word of encouragement” - to the Scriptures (Prov. 3:11-12). He knows that it is “through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures” (Rom. 15:4) that we have hope. How often our discouragement is dispelled when we remember some word of Scripture.
We are reminded here that God’s discipline is not meant to discourage us, but precisely the opposite. He does discipline us, and he does it through the trials which he permits us to experience. The process is frequently far from pleasant, but if we recognize its significance we shall not lose heart.
God is teaching us as sons when he disciplines us. The application of our Father’s hand may not be immediately appreciated! The fact that it is our Father’s hand engenders respect for him in us and recognition of our privileged relationship.
God’s discipline is for our good - “that we may share in his holiness” (Heb. 12:10). He is directing the process of our sanctification.
God’s discipline will be fruitful - “It produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it” (Heb. 12:12).
“Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons” (Heb. 12:7). We are not to make light of it, but we are not to lose heart!
