Daily Encouragementنموونە

This anchor hope is identified by F. F. Bruce: “We are refugees from the sinking ship of this present world-order, so soon to disappear; our hope is fixed in the eternal order, where the promises of God are made good to his people in perpetuity. Our hope, based upon His promises, is our spiritual anchor.“
The writer of the letter to the Hebrews makes much of the promise and oath of God which lie behind “the unchanging nature of his purpose.” He sees in them a great source of encouragement to those of us “who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us” (verses 17-18). God’s word assures us of the reliability of the anchor, and we know too where it is firmly resting. “Hope,” writes Thomas Hewitt, “is the Christian’s sure and steadfast anchor which has found a firm hold in the forerunner who has entered within the veil for us.” This anchor will hold in the storms of life.
The old hymn puts it well:
When darkness seems to veil His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil.
His oath, His covenant, and blood
Support me in the whelming flood
When all around my soul gives away
He then is all my hope and stay.
