Just Like Jesus: A 6-Day Devotional Series With Iveth Lunaنموونە
DAY 5 - BELIEVE
All through the gospels, Jesus performs numerous miracles, healings, and even a resurrection. In each of these instances, Jesus first looked and had compassion on the recipients of the miracle, but in each situation He was also looking for one key thing…faith. He was looking for someone here on earth to believe that He was fully God and capable of anything. He wanted someone here on earth to ask for help with full expectation that He could deliver. When the townspeople saw friends destroying a perfectly good roof, Jesus saw faith. When others saw a sick, hopeless woman crawling to touch Jesus, Jesus saw faith. And when people thought a centurion was foolish in not having Jesus come directly to his dying servant, Jesus again saw faith.
The faith displayed in these stories challenges me to my core. There’s been seasons and situations in my life that seemed just impossible to overcome. In these times, I remember displaying everything but faith. I doubted God’s goodness when I seemed to be walking blindly without any answers to my questions. The enemy, amongst other things, wanted to discourage me from believing for things in that season - to bring my faith to nothing. I had to fight believe that God was truly who He said He was, and it wasn’t always pretty. I walked away, I argued, I questioned, but when I was at the end of my rope, I finally found the truth: God is for us. He wants life and life more abundantly for us. He is our biggest champion, and He is eternally faithful to His promises.
God has given us victory over the enemy, over fear, over death itself. He is able to do exceedingly more than we could ever imagine, and today He’s still looking for the same thing on the earth…faith.
