DAY 3 - IN YOU
Our strength comes from the Lord.
There is a well known acronym for the word “fear”: False Evidence Appearing Real. Isn’t that exactly how fear works? It slips into your thoughts, and it tries to destroy your understanding of truth. And before you know, thanks to fear, you have disqualified yourself or written yourself off. Fear has had this type of grip on me before. If I ever doubt if I can do something well or I start to become afraid of failure, I can easily talk myself out of good things.
I nearly talked myself out of becoming a worship leader because of my fear of singing in front of people. I had a heart for worship and wanted to use the gifts God had given me to bring honor to his name, but the nervousness and vulnerability of singing alone on a stage was too much to overcome on my own. Over time, I began to believe that if God called me to something, He would give me the strength and resolve to do it! I stopped running away from the wonderful things God was placing in front of me and found a new strength in the truth that God was always with me - especially in the moments that required me to walk in trust. The scripture, Philippians 4:13, reminds us that even in our weakness or in our fear, our strength comes wholly from the Lord. Where we can’t, He can. Where we aren’t, He is. We can proclaim this truth over our lives and walk in the fact that all things are possible with God.

What is something you’ve felt called to do but have been too afraid to act on it? What is a tangible first step that you can make to go after this calling?
Pray with me!
Father, thank you for being such a mighty and capable God. You are so vast and powerful, yet you care deeply about the tiny details of my life. Thank you for being my true north whenever fears try to derail my life. Help me to rest in your presence today and boldly take the next steps your directing me to take.
