Fresh Startنموونە
God is big on the right now—the present moment. In one of Jesus’ earlier sermons, He told us not to worry about our future: “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34). Worry robs us of our future, and Jesus doesn’t want that. In that very same sermon, a few statements earlier, He said: “If you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you” (Matthew 6:14). Unforgiveness is letting your past rob your present. And Jesus doesn’t want that for us either. Remember, God is big on staying in the present moment.
It’s fitting that God revealed His name to Moses as “I am” (Exodus 3:14). God exists with us, in this moment, and He wants us to live fully alive in the right now. So, if you find your heart borrowing trouble by worrying about the future, stop. If you find yourself reliving moments from the past because you’ve been wounded, and because of unforgiveness, stop. Let both serve as little red flags over places in your life that He wants to change. The God of the present wants you to live in it.

About this Plan
No matter how we feel about a new year, it can offer a fresh start. Maybe God has something for you in this season. Maybe the Holy Spirit might be pointing something out for you. We all want to live for what truly matters, and maybe God can use this year’s fresh start to help us point our lives more in that direction.
