Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 11نموونە
Today’s chapter is Jude, and today’s verse of the day is verse 3: "Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God's holy people."
In these few words, we find a profound call to action that resonates through the ages.
The term "contend" carries a sense of urgency. It implies a vigorous and unwavering struggle, not against flesh and blood, but against the forces that seek to undermine our faith. We are called to be defenders of the faith, to stand firm and unwavering in our belief in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
But why is it so essential for us to contend for the faith? The answer lies in the precious nature of the faith we hold. Our faith is not a mere human invention; it is a divine gift entrusted to us by God Himself. It is a faith that has been passed down through generations from the apostles to the saints who have gone before us. It is a faith rooted in the unchanging truth of God's Word.
In a world filled with doubt, skepticism, and moral relativism, our faith is a beacon of hope and truth. It is a faith that offers salvation, forgiveness, and eternal life through Jesus Christ. It is a faith that provides us with a solid foundation upon which to build our lives.
To contend for the faith means to defend it against the relentless assaults of the world, to protect it from distortion and dilution, and to pass it on intact to the next generation. It means being willing to stand up for what we believe, even when it is unpopular or politically incorrect.
Contending for the faith is not a passive endeavor. It requires us to be well-grounded in the scriptures, to pray fervently, and to live out our faith in love and obedience. It means engaging in conversations with those who have questions or doubts, always with gentleness and respect.
As we contemplate Jude's exhortation, let us remember that we are not alone in this battle. God is with us, and He has equipped us with His Word and the power of His Holy Spirit. Let us, therefore, be faithful stewards of the faith entrusted to us, contending for it with courage and unwavering determination so that the light of Christ may continue to shine brightly in a world desperately in need of His grace and truth.
