Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 11نموونە
Today, I would love to share some thoughts about 2 Peter 3.
When I was a whole lot younger, words like the 'Day of the Lord will come,' evoked fear within me. Only now, when reading scriptures like 2 Peter 3, can I find truth and inspiration in something so wildly unknown and speculated about.
You see, Peter writes this letter as a warning for those far from God to come to Christ, but I believe that he also succeeds in highlighting God, not only as a promise keeper but also as a powerful God whose words bring about life.
Peter gives us a few pointers on what to do and focus on while we expectantly await Christ's promised return.
In verse 11, Peter urges us to live Holy and Godly lives; Holy refers to the pattern of daily life that sets me apart as a believer and Godly, relating to how we display our profound reverence to our awesome God.
This comes down to genuinely BEHOLDING Christ, adopting this new way of life He has brought, and celebrating who He is.
Peter encourages and warns us in verses 17-18 that we should not get distracted but rather be on guard so that we do not fall from our steadfastness of mind, knowledge, truth, and faith. We should grow Spiritually mature in the Grace and Knowledge of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ.
Can I challenge you this week to answer the following questions:
In what areas of my life have I forgotten simple truths about His character & who He is?
Are there any spaces or thoughts in my life currently that are competing with distractions, pulling my attention away from living a holy and godly life?
What changes or adjustments can I commit to make today to grow more spiritually mature in grace and know Him more?
