DAY 4 OF 9

MAINTAINING HOLINESS

Maybe you wonder why the punishment stricken upon Nadab and Abihu was so severe. They looked down on the holiness by offering profane fire before the Lord, and to God this was a very serious violation. They defile the tabernacle of meeting and the instruments in it and the method of offering that God had commanded the priest to do.

Remember, God’s holiness is absolute and very important. God commanded Aaron to hold his peace, not to mourn for the death of Nadab and Abihu. By asking Aaron to hold his peace, God wanted to show the Israelites that they have to honor God and keep their holiness to see the glory of God.

Do you know what caused Nadab and Abihu to defile God’s holiness? They got drunk because of wine or intoxicating drink. They lost control of themselves and made a fatal mistake. God’s fire came down and devoured them to be an example to the Israelites.

God is a good father who always wants to teach His children to live in obedience and enables His children to live a pleasing life. One side of Christianity is grace, but on the other side of the coin is responsibility to keep our life pleasing before God.

If we want to receive God’s anointing in our life, we have to keep His holiness. Holiness, not only in marriage, but also in other aspects of life such as study, work, and attitude.

Our holiness toward God is evidence of His presence within us.
