This small island nation with a population of 1.5 million people and just over 200,000 known Christian believers is located in one of the world’s chief oil-producing regions. Still, it mainly processes crude oil from neighboring countries, as they have little petroleum.

Bahrain has experienced significant religious, political, and economic tension, resulting mainly from the Sunni-Shiite division of Islam and its involvement in the global community. Because the nation enjoys greater freedoms than almost all other Gulf countries, it is spiritually strategic.

The Church is established among the immigrant community, who are low-pay employees. Human rights violations continue to be a huge problem for migrant workers. Christians face opposition daily, but the Church is growing due to more and more willingness on their part to spread the Gospel to their Bahraini neighbors.

Prayer Points to Consider:

• Pray for the eight unreached people groups within Bahrain, which account for nearly 1.2 million people, to experience the Holy Spirit’s intervention through encounters, visions, and dreams. Ask for believers to be strategically placed throughout the nation to reach those who are hungry for God.
• Lift up before the Lord the workers on the ground not to grow weary in their efforts to wisely share the gospel but to remember that the Holy Spirit Who indwells them is more than capable of doing what they cannot do on their own.
• As Jesus’ Church grows, pray for strong, Biblically sound leaders to lead and tend the believers in their care, being sensitive to their needs, and discipling them in the power of God’s Word and Spirit for their personal transformation as well as for the nation.
• Pray for the wealthy who dwell in this island nation to realize their riches are fleeting and that a deep hunger arise in their souls for more—a hunger for the eternal riches that only the Lord can provide.

Dear Heavenly Father...Today, I lift up beautiful Bahrain to You. I ask for Your protection, strengthening, and encouragement to surround those who name Jesus as their Savior as they go about their day’s duties and activities. I ask for Holy Spirit overflow among Your Church, igniting Your children with a fresh freedom in their own lives that those who don’t know You yet will see and long for. Please protect those actively engaging in the work of the Gospel so they will have supernatural favor even in the most hostile environments. May multitudes come to faith in Jesus in these coming months and years as the world changes daily. In His Limitless Name, I pray. Amen!
