Iran, with its population of 86,000,000 people, is an Islamic Republic led by the supreme leader of the Shia Islam–the Ayatollah. Christians face persecution, but their numbers are multiplying in underground churches and through workers bringing in the Gospel through neighboring countries. A hunger for sharing God’s Word is causing a revival within Iran.

Many testimonies are pouring out from underground churches, describing disillusionment from their Iranian neighbors towards the repressive government. The lack of answers within Islam is leading Iranians to explore the alternative presented in Christianity. Many in the Church are leading the charge by sharing openly.

Despite sanctions, Iran is a developing nation financed by its oil reserves and industrial and technological sectors.

Prayer Points to Consider:

• Pray for Iran’s freedom from the repressive government. Pray especially for those imprisoned for their faith in Christ, to be surrounded by His felt presence, recall His Word, see others come to Him through their witness, and for their release.
• Pray for godly leadership to rise up from the protests for freedom from the extreme Islamic stronghold held by the ayatollahs.
• Pray for continued Holy Spirit empowerment for the growth of the underground Church despite oppression. That every believer would receive a fresh sense of purpose and calling, recognizing that God has strategically placed them for such a time as this.
• Pray for safety, leadership, and the discipleship of believers as they open His Word, recognizing that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever and that He is present among them in encouragement, comfort, discernment, and working the miraculous.
• Pray for the Iranian diaspora in Europe, the US, and Canada. That those who encounter Jesus abroad be led by the Holy Spirit to return to Iran, leading multitudes to find salvation, hope, healing, and deliverance in Him.

Dear Lord Jesus...I come to You now, lifting up Iran before Your throne. You alone rule and reign, LORD! I take time now to wait on the Holy Spirit’s leading in prayer _______ (take time to do this). I pray for the fire of the Spirit’s revival breath to continue to sweep through Your Church in this nation. May multitudes come to a saving faith in You through encounters with believers, dreams, and visions. I ask for Your divine protection over Christians as they meet and for them to be empowered in their personal growth in You and as they reach out to others. In Your Name, The Commander of Heaven’s Host, King Jesus, I pray. Amen!
