Precious Moments That Count For Eternityনমুনা
And I Will Lay My Head Down
This verse always refreshes me after a long day because it is only the Lord, our Savior, who can give us both peace and sound sleep. We know that at the end of the day, it is only God who protects us. When our spouses, our children and our family members leave each morning to work, to school or on some assignment, we pray for their safe return. We know that the Lord sends His angels to guard and guide them (Psalm 91).
When King David was confronted by his enemies, he looked to the Lord for his safety. He knew that it was only the Lord, the God of Israel, the true living God, who would protect him and take him back home safely.
We live in constant dread and worry. We fret over every issue; even about things that have never happened or might never happen. We constantly fear for our loved ones’ safety when we hear of terror attacks, kidnappings, car accidents, etc. Worrying causes us stress, which eventually leads to mental and physical ailments, which we could do well to avoid.
The solution to combat worry and fear is God’s promises in His Word. Isaiah 26:3 says, You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. If we trust in the Lord and meditate on His Word, we sense peace and safety always. God’s Word protects our loved ones. Dwell on His Word and you will slowly learn to trust Him and feel His peace all around you.
Prayer
Dear Lord Jesus, I pray that Your hand of protection will always be upon my family. For You alone, O Lord, make us dwell in safety. Amen.
