DAY 14 OF 28

Spring - Written by Claire Hailwood

Day 14

What a glorious season spring is. We’ve journeyed through some of the amazing opportunities and potential stretches, and delved into some of the promises and hope that spring contains. Yet spring, like every other season, should be first and foremost about us following Jesus more closely, intentionally growing our love for and relationship with Him. Every promise, every bit of potential and opportunity in spring is unlocked through the power of our willingness and obedience to surrender our lives, whatever has gone before and whatever will follow.

John 17:10 (TPT) reminds us that the revelation of the glory of Jesus on the earth, something that so many of us would pray and long for, is connected directly to the surrender of our lives. We have an opportunity to reveal more of the glory of Jesus here on earth, we get that privilege by surrendering our lives in greater measure. But we also have the opportunity to do the opposite- to take the glory meant for Him for ourselves. When He asks us to surrender and we don’t, when He asks for our willingness and obedience and it’s lacking, then we’re withholding the glory that He deserves.

So how do we, in the midst of all the newness, in the beauty and the chaos, surrender our lives more fully to God? What does that look like? Practical wisdom filled Proverbs 3:5-10 (TPT) gives us a really great starting place;

  • Trust completely in God (not ourselves)
  • Depend on Him (rather than try and do things in our own strength)
  • Be led by Him (be obedient)
  • Grow a relationship with Him (spend time with Him, speak and listen)
  • Acknowledge our own lack and then go to God for wisdom and direction
  • Surrender our wealth:- time, money, resource, and more, giving God the first and best of us

As we do those things we will unlock all that God has for us in spring. Moreover, we will lay a foundation for the seasons that are to come.

ASK :

  • Which of the things listed in Proverbs do you do well in? Which of them do you find hardest? Ask God to show you how to grow greater strength and take ground in the challenge today.
  • If you’re in a spring season right now, what are 3 things that you’re going to do in response to what God has shown you in the past 7 days?
  • If you’re not in spring, what is God saying to you about preparing for this season that will come?
