Journey With Jesus 365ናሙና

Nicodemus, initially hesitant and afraid, sought Jesus under the cover of night—a sign of fear or shame. Yet, Jesus welcomed him, teaching us the importance of encouraging even weak beginnings of faith. Though Nicodemus started secretly, he later publicly acknowledged Christ. His conversation with Jesus focused not on worldly matters but on the salvation of his soul. Jesus introduced him to the concept of being "born again," emphasizing that spiritual rebirth is essential for entering the kingdom of God. This rebirth involves a radical transformation: adopting new principles, affections, and aims, leaving behind the sinful nature we inherit at birth.

Jesus highlighted the deadly nature of sin, which, like a serpent’s bite, brings destruction. Yet, He also offered the powerful remedy: faith in Him as the crucified Savior. By believing, we look to Him and receive life and salvation. Rejecting this remedy leaves individuals in a condemned state, still wounded by sin and separated from God. Jesus came to save, offering pardon so that we would not perish under the law’s sentence. This is the gospel: God’s immense love displayed in giving His Son for humanity's redemption. Believing in Christ brings the ultimate benefit—everlasting life.

Unbelief, however, leads to certain and present condemnation. It stems from a love for sin and an enmity toward God. Those who reject Christ’s light do so because they love darkness, unwilling to have their sinful deeds exposed. Conversely, those with renewed hearts welcome the light, desiring to live in accordance with God’s will. Their actions, guided by God’s love and strength, seek His glory.

The necessity of regeneration—being born again—is central to the Christian faith. Without it, all worldly achievements and pleasures are meaningless. What good is earthly success if one ultimately faces eternal separation from God? Only by being united with Him through faith and love can we escape the condemnation of sin and find true life.
