Psalms Streak: A Daily Devotional in the Psalmsናሙና
Forgotten
Halfway! As we read through the next three sections, we will pass verses 88-89: the halfway mark of the longest chapter in the Bible. Before looking at the halfway mark, hazard a guess at what the theme of the two verses is? You guessed it - this long, 176-verse poem centers on obedience to God's Word. God's Word can be easier to follow when the sun is shining, when the wind is at your back, and when everyone loves you! But at the centre of Psalm 119, the writer is calling out for obedience from the middle of dark times. Read through today's verses and see if you can relate to the emotions of feeling FORGOTTEN, feeling like God doesn’t hear you, the feelings of long waiting, the feelings of prayers going unanswered...
GO DEEP: Pick through today's verses and write down the verses you see that bring encouragement during the waiting. The “l-centred” verses are a good start! Keep these verses somewhere you won’t lose them. Turn to them and pray through them next time you feel forgotten. (Some of our favourites are verses 73, 76, and 90.) Pray and ask God if there are people in your circles who feel low and forgotten or even invisible. What is He asking you to do?
BE BOLD: Who needs to hear this? Who could you share it with?
