Psalms Streak: A Daily Devotional in the Psalmsናሙና
Too Wonderful
Think for a minute about the words you use regularly. When you come across something that is full marks, 10 out of 10, the best – what word do you use to describe it? It might not be your first choice, but the writer of Psalm 119 went with ‘WONDERFUL.’ Is there anything in your life that you enjoy so much that you can’t quite fully describe it? In an effort to describe how wonderful God's ways are, the writer went beyond picking words and used imagery — “I open my mouth and pant” and “streams of tears flow from my eyes” (v. 131, 136). The Psalm continues to layout WHY God's ways are WONDERFUL. Let’s check it out:
GO DEEP: Vs 130: What is the impact of God's words in our lives?
Vs 132: What does our God ALWAYS do?
Vs 133-134: God's words will direct our footsteps - walking in His paths means FREEDOM! The enemy will try to convince you of the exact opposite! But walking in God's paths will give us freedom from sin, and freedom from people. Ask God if there are areas in your life where you don’t have freedom. Ask God to direct your footsteps into freedom.
BE BOLD: Who needs to hear this? Who could you share it with?
