Testimonies of Christian Hip HopÀpẹrẹ
AC The Bard
For a long time, I felt like I didn’t have much of a testimony. As a sheltered homeschool kid who only knew church folks, my life felt uneventful. It wasn’t until college that I began meeting people with different beliefs and studying what it truly means to follow Christ. Even now, as a Christian rapper, I’m learning more every day about my faith. My music allows me to share my journey and remind listeners that I’m just as much a student as they are.
At times, I’ve felt inadequate compared to others with dramatic testimonies of God saving them from unimaginable situations. I’ve wondered if my “goody-two-shoes” life could even glorify Him. But then I remember Exodus 4:10-12, where Moses, feeling unqualified to speak for God, says,“I am not eloquent… but slow of speech." God responds, "Who has made man’s mouth? Is it not I, the Lord? Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.” This encourages me as I develop my craft, knowing that God provides the message I need to share through my music.
Sharing my faith isn’t always easy. I’ve been rejected before and worry about looking foolish as a rapper. But I hold onto 2 Timothy 1:7:“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” It’s okay to feel fear; we just can’t let it stop us. The enemy will whisper lies about what could go wrong, but I remind myself,“Callando!” (Be quiet!) and focus on the truth: God is bigger than my fears.
Through music, I step forward boldly, trusting Him to use my testimony—no matter how ordinary it seems—for His extraordinary purpose.
