Remember When I...

Has anyone ever told you to forgive someone, and you just kept thinking, “But you don’t understand.” Maybe you thought the person couldn’t possibly understand the hurt you were experiencing or how angry you were. That’s normal, and sometimes, we can even feel that way towards Jesus. We wonder if He understands our pain. When Jesus was on the cross, He asked God to forgive those who hurt Him. He didn’t do this because forgiveness is easy but because love and compassion are at the center of who He is. Jesus knows what it’s like to face rejection and pain, and He doesn’t expect us to forgive without struggle. But He does invite us to come to Him with our hurts, trusting that He understands.

Today, if forgiveness feels hard, try talking to Jesus about it. Ask Him to help you find the strength to let go, one step at a time.
