The Creator's Craft: A 3 Day Devotional on God's Creative Process

Ọjọ́ 3 nínú 3

As we’ve walked through God’s creative process in the opening verses of Genesis, a clear pattern has emerged.

God, the Supreme Creator, who could have spoken just once and created everything, followed a series of steps.

And anytime God maps out His steps, we would be wise to walk in them as created beings.

So far, we’ve seen how God sets His intention, announces, produces, and evaluates.

The last two steps in His process are quite different from what we normally imagine about God and His creation.

The fifth step we should be mirroring in our lives is celebration.

CELEBRATION

Where do we see celebration in creation?

It’s not stated explicitly in Genesis, but in the book of Job, God makes it clear that there was a celebration at the moment He finished His work.

Job 38:1-7 NIV
1 Then the LORD spoke to Job out of the storm. He said: 2 "Who is this that obscures my plans with words without knowledge? 3 Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me. 4 "Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell me, if you understand. 5 Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? 6 On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone-- 7 while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?

So there is celebration in heaven that acknowledges God’s creative work.

This means, as a child of God, you are echoing God’s pleasure by celebrating your accomplishments.

You should be celebrating when you birth something into the world. You should be celebrating when that project, that book, that song, that art piece, that sculpture is done. Why? Because God celebrates creativity.

He loves it when you use His gifts to create beauty, order and things that move people’s emotions.

This moves us right into the final step that God takes in his creative process - delegation.

DELEGATION

God has all power to keep creating, but instead, He gives that right and responsibility to us, His children.

He spoke to His handiwork, Adam and Eve, and gave them the authority to make everything else in the world. They weren't only just to maintain the created world, they were tasked to make it even more beautiful.

What an amazing amount of trust He put in them!

And in the same fashion, you can take up the mantle of creative authority and step forward with faith to make your world beautiful, the same way God did.

You can lead others in your life, and show them the example of being a confident creative.

Thus, you delegate the same responsibility of stewarding God's creative gifts to them.

CONCLUSION

You can live this gift of life knowing that God made you for a purpose. You were made to create on earth as it is in Heaven.

So take these 6 steps and apply them to your life - in your creative projects as well as your daily decisions - and watch your levels of inspiration soar.

Application for Today

Take time to celebrate your accomplishments, however small, in a way that shows your gratitude and thankfulness. Then look for ways to inspire others to step up to something they have to share, create, or solve.
