BEHOLD THE FATHER

Have you ever heard the statement, “He or she is just like their father?” This can be used in both a positive and negative light, yet when we read in the word about how God is our Father, and we are to be like Him, it’s always positive. We become what we behold.

It is clear from the phrasing of this passage that we progressively become more and more like God the more we see Him. There should be a family resemblance! When we behold Him, we experience His love lavished on us, and this causes us to want to love others well. Jesus came to show us the Father’s heart, so the more we see Him and follow His ways, the more we will want to imitate Him.

One of the reasons church is so important to our journey of faith is that we gather together to see Him continually and hear His voice. It is the role of each of us, personally and corporately, to continue unveiling the Father’s heart to the world around us. To know Him more and make Him known.

Let’s Pray:

“Father, we thank you for being such a good Father to us. To behold You by the Spirit is to truly become like You. Help us as we look to You to reflect Your goodness and grace to others, our families, friends, and neighbors. We aren’t simply trying to be like You. We are born into Your family and have received the gift of Your nature. Thank you for the outworking of this in Jesus’ name. Amen”

  1. How comfortable are you with seeing God as your “Father”?
  2. How have you changed by coming into a relationship with the Father that models His nature?
  3. What areas of your life do you need the Father’s nature to manifest more?
